This piece was inspired by the dog, Axel and cat, Walter, who come to greet everyone who enters into the house. Axel has a habit of waiting with sheer anticipation, often barking when he doesn't recognize who it is, only to melt into a sweetheart once the door opens, no matters who stands in the doorway. Walter, on the other hand, likes to hunt Axel during this, and you can see him about ready to pounce from the sill leading into the darkened room.
