This piece was inspired by the dog, Axel and cat, Walter, who come to greet everyone who enters into the house. Axel has a habit of waiting with sheer anticipation, often barking when he doesn't recognize who it is, only to melt into a sweetheart once the door opens, no matters who stands in the doorway. Walter, on the other hand, likes to hunt Axel during this, and you can see him about ready to pounce from the sill leading into the darkened room.

With this artwork, I wanted to created something almost entirely with palette knives. I've always been a huge fan of artists who use impasto work on their art, Van Gogh being an all-time favorite, so I wanted to dig into Read more

With this artwork, I wanted to created something almost entirely with palette knives. I've always been a huge fan of artists who use impasto work on their art, Van Gogh being an all-time favorite, so I wanted to dig into how I could layer textures and values. For the composition I chose to study the pond I created in my backyard. Every summer we get these bright orange dragonflies that visit and hang out on top of the pickerelweed, a tall and stalky leaf with a lavender bush-like flower jutting out of its core. They love these flowers because they get to see all the mosquitos and gnats that visit and prey on them from up-high. Normally they're gone by dusk, but I've caught them a couple times gleaming in the lowering sun. It's a magical sight. Naturally, I wanted to create a scene that showed my appreciation for those small and rare moments. I wanted it to feel a little looser and more impressionistic than defined, preferring spur-of-the-moment decisions to calculated ones. The acrylic paint helped with this, as it dries quickly. By the end I was left with a more three-dimensional look and scraped textures throughout.

There's pointed impasto work in a fiery orange, there's muddy yellows, jagged edges, and more textures and colors to evoke the playfulness of obliterating something beautiful. Consultations for all works: $25 per hour, minimum 1 hour

Paintings (Acrylic and Oil)

8x8 inches or smaller: $2.25 per square inch plus materials

9 inches to 12 in any direction: $2.15 per square inch plus materials

13 inches or larger in any direction: $2.00 plus materials

Touch ups or changes: $25 per hour spent

Note: Delivery or shipping costs will be added to final total

An album about embracing the day in front of you and basking in the glow of the gift that is the present. Over the years my disability has made playing the saxophone harder and harder, now to the point where I can barely play it at all. I made this EP as a way of imagining what one good day, a day where I didn't have to worry about my disability, would look and feel like. I'm honored to have the privilege of playing such a lovely instrument and feel delighted to share my passion for the saxophone with you. Please enjoy.

Initially created for a video game, Through the Forest We Grow is meant to meant to be reminiscent of the Lost Woods from the Legend of Zelda. Using plucked and woody tones, I used a live recording of a cello bass line (played by the lovely and talented Ridge Hall) alongside an electronic lead to evoke a sense of mystery and excitement.
