Peering Out

Peering Out

A shell of broken promises

Cracked and filled with gold

Pretending to act as something it’s not

The chicken, not the egg

Redefining habits

Giving gold a new meaning

Saving it to share

To show care

Maybe the edges are sharp

But jagged lines

At least know what they want

And I want you

So I’m coming out

I’m done with hiding insecurities

Vulnerability sounds passé

But you deserve honesty

I am shattered

But I maintain my form

Every time I am crushed

I fall a little further

Deeper and deeper

Rushes of mania

Split me apart

Until the gold is old and all’s left

Is new

That’s the day

When we can be us

Wishing and waiting

Taking and creating

Opportunities

To escape

To dedicate

My life

To the days I have left

To what’s in my view

And most importantly of all

To myself and to you
