A Someday Dream

A Someday Dream

There’s no greater hope

Than curling in bed

Knowing when I unfurl

My name will escape your lips

There’s no farther distance

That I would travel

Than the lengths it would take

To be still at your side

There’s not a soul in the wind

No whistle or song

That whispers a word

More powerful than “us”

There’s no mask I could wear

No cloak I could don

You couldn’t see through

And adore what you find

So why pretend?

Why fly away?

Why throw away tomorrow?

Why deny my love?

When only my thoughts restrain me

From falling deeper and deeper

I’ll have to keep “I do” until someday

And dream you’ll say it back
