I Am the Moon

Beyond radiance

Beyond the fires of the sun

I am the moon

I shall not be undone

Given the chance

Between self and romance

I hold the scales

I refuse to tip the balance

You may be the sun

And I reflect your night

But my promises go further

Traveling through the night

I want others to see me

To know I choose more

To defend all of life

To hope for what’s in store

I shift the tides

Never trying to hide

The flow of sacred dreams

The ebb of my ego and pride

My place is not just for me

It’s for all I choose to see

When you look up into the sky

It’s where I’ll always be

I am the moon

Though trouble will come soon

I will water the countryside

And turn it’s growth to bloom

Even when I disappear

I will never stop being here

My spirit will always bless
