If Feelings Could Talk

If Feelings Could Talk

If feelings could talk, what would they say?

Would they smile and sing about fun while they play?

Would they hide during a storm and talk about pain?

Or would they go find a way to dance in the rain?

When we listen to our feelings' truth

It gives us the chance to explore our youth

For when we take a trip back in time

Back to a place without reason or rhyme

We find ourselves

And feel the sublime

It's our job to describe how our feelings behave

So when things look bleak we can still be brave

It’s our resilience and spirit that make us so grand

So when someone is hurtful we can make a stand

We can tell them they're wrong but that is okay

Because we can all work together and change our day

Not all days have to be doom and gloom

And not all days do you have to light up a room

What is important is that you try your best

To balance the good and bad and all of the rest

If feelings could talk, I think they would say, "I'd like to be heard, to be understood,

To connect with ourselves when we know we should."

They’d like you to know that you're very special,

And although you feel bad, they know you’ll stay level.

Go out, connect, and tell someone they're loved,

For then nothing will stop us from soaring above...

Our greatest potential.

I say this to you with all the faith in my heart,

You will do well in this life because you are so smart

Treat others the same and you will be rich

Richer than those with the greatest sales pitch

So while you're out, let your feelings speak

But not so that others might feel that they're weak

Give patience and mercy to all whom you meet

For when they return it, you'll all feel complete

If facts and figures matter more to your guest

Remember this small and humble request

Graciously ask their mind to tiptoe

Back to their heart so they may let go

Of all the logic they've been forced to show

And all of the grief that lies down below

Help them learn and help them grow

And you will be the wisest person they know

Now go forth, you sweet summer child

Nurture the world and help it stick around for a little while

Longer
